Serving over 14,319 students, the Apple Valley Unified School District is a leader among school districts in technology and academic excellence. The District currently has ten elementary schools, three middle schools, two high schools, one Charter and three adult / alternative schools.

A few of the District's academic excellence awards include Vista Campana Middle School as a "California Distinguished School," a Golden Bell Award-winning special education program for secondary students, elementary magnet schools in mathematics/science and visual and performing arts, the 1997 California Teacher of the year, an extensive advanced placement program receiving well over $100,000 annually in awards and scholarships and The Lewis Center For Educational Research, a California Golden Bell Award-winning and nationally recognized model. Unique features of the National Aeronautics and space Administration affiliated complex include a research-quality observatory and a T-40 jet flight simulator.
